In 2011, the Security Council adopted the now famous resolution 1973, which authorized the use of force against Libya and led to the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime and the demise of Gaddafi. In the aftermath, both of the adoption of the resolution and of the completion of the operation, the resolution became the subject of much discussion and debate. This article traces the significance of the resolution 1973 and as well as legality.
