In the Von Abo decision, the Pretoria High Court considered whether an individual had a right to diplomatic protection from the South African government in foreign territories against the actions of foreign governments. This article severely criticizes this decision for ignoring the law of South Africa and international law in relation to diplomatic protection. The decision was eventually overturned by the Supreme Court of Appeal. The Constitutional Court confirmed the Supreme Court of Appeal decision.
